| I am taking this trip to help raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis groups who work in the fight against MS. Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating disease that effects more women than men and has no known cure. One of those women effected by Multiple Sclerosis is my sister who I love with all my heart. She is my driving inspiration and motivation and gives me the desire to finish a world record trip. Without everything she gives me I would probably not finish a trip like this, but knowing EVERY single day I am helping to fight against a disease my sister suffers from gives me the same renewed sprit and attitude it takes to complete a several thousand mile canoe trip. My sister Julie Mcafee is a 40 year old housewife with two children and a great husband. Julie has lived with MS for almost 7 years, but being around her you could never tell. Julie is such an inspirational person to be around! Just watching Julie live has inspired me in many ways. Julie seems to keep the best attitude in any situation. Many times I forget she has MS. She never talks about her disease. Instead she is busy enjoying life. When Julie found out she had Multiple Sclerosis she was happy it was not anything worse. That's Julie, always looking on the upside. Julie credits her strong faith to God. What impresses me so much about Julie is that she lives a Christian life, not just talks one. She speaks so much more with her actions than her voice. Julie is at complete peace and happiness in her life. There is nothing not even Multiple Sclerosis can shatter her faith. Julie has been there for me since day one. I will never be able to repay her for the things she has done for me. I am taking this trip in the name of my sister Julie Mcafee |
